Pitt’s New AD; Basketball Depression

We live in a crazy time. A time where we have no answers. A time when we’re left only to speculate. A time where Twitter has all the answers. Yes, we’re still searching and wondering who Pitt will hire as its next athletic director and offensive coordinator. Lucky for you, we’re discussing it all, and potentially stumbling upon some answers along the way. We talk the OC search, the AD search, and Pitt football recruiting. We also discuss the recent struggles of Pitt basketball, and we debate whether or not this season is already lost. All that, and much more, coming your way in Episode 211!

A Complete Disaster; Pitt Loses at Miami

Is Pat Narduzzi’s reputation in question? Who have been the biggest disappointments this season? Who has exceeded expectations the most? These are just some of the topics we debate in Episode 180. The game was bad. Real bad. The offense was uncharacteristically out of sync, and the defense still can’t man up in the defensive backfield. All told, this game felt like an outlier, and we expect a better effort in Clemson, but still we must dig into a tough game. We break down offense, defense, and special teams. We also look at the week in college football, the ACC action from the week, and predict our new Top 4 in the next College Football Playoff Rankings. All that, and more, in Episode 180!

Weird Rankings, Pitt’s Insane Schedule, & A Pitt-Miami Preview

We’re back, and so are the College Football Playoff rankings! We dig into the surprises in the first edition of these rankings for 2016 (cough, Texas A&M, cough, Penn State). Upon looking at these rankings, it’s apparent Pitt’s schedule has been pretty tough this year. We break that down, and talk about how this season really hasn’t been “bad.” Then we get into the Pitt-Miami game and break down both sides of the ball. There are really good reasons to believe Pitt will win this game, but it’s probably going to come down to Pitt’s ability to defend the pass again. Can the Panthers match-up? We debate. We also spend the first seven minutes power ranking candy. You’re welcome.

An Optimistic Look at the Road Ahead for Pitt

I’ve seen and heard a lot of the same sentiment lately: “If Pitt can win one out of the next three, that will be great.”

While I can’t completely disagree (one win out of the next three would probably set Pitt on course to win eight games this season — not bad), I think Pitt has a chance to maybe do something a little more special.

By now, if you’ve read or listened to anything I put out there, you know I’m an eternal Pitt optimist. I admit that, so I naturally have a bit of a bias here.

But when I look ahead at the next three games, there’s nothing in front of Pitt that screams “definite loss.”

Yes, Virginia Tech, Miami, and Clemson are good football teams. Clemson is very good. If Pitt lost to all of them, I wouldn’t be shocked. But all of them have their flaws.

Let’s take a look… Continue reading “An Optimistic Look at the Road Ahead for Pitt”
